Citrine has a color ranging from light yellow to dark yellow, and even golden brown. Natural citrine is rare. Most citrine available on the market owes its color to the process of heating amethyst or smoky quartz. At a temperature of about 470 degrees Celsius, Brazilian amethyst changes color to light yellow, while at a temperature of 550-560 degrees Celsius it takes on a dark yellow or even reddish-brown shade. Some smoky quartzes change color to citrine at a temperature of about 200 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n\n
